Paris '08: Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia

New Cayenne is not for shrinking violets...

Find your humungous SUV doesn’t attract enough attention on the school run? Do not fear because Porsche used the Paris show to launch its new Cayenne S Transsyberia, a car for those who find two-tonne off-roaders don’t have enough visual impact around town.

The Transsyberia has been developed to commemorate Porsche’s success in the rally of the same name. The SUV has dominated the Transsyberia Rally in recent years and picked up the top six spots in this year’s race.

The road version of the Transsyberia Cayenne uses the same 405bhp 4.8-litre V8 as the Cayenne GTS which will be mated to a six-speed manual ‘box. The final drive ratio has been dropped to 4.1:1 to give it a 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds – half a second quicker than the standard Cayenne S. The six-speed auto is optional.

The car will be available in a number of colour combinations, including the black/orange and silver/orange that features on the Transsyberia Rally cars. They also come with 18” wheels, skid plates and air inlets all painted in the contrasting colour to the body. No cost options include Transsyberia side stickers.

I didn't think they could make it uglier, but they have.
Have Porsche employed the guy who styled the SSangyong Musso?

I really like the black/orange combo of the Transsyberia cars.

This would be the 4x4 I'd go for. Far better than that BMW X6 thing. I'm scared they'll reverse over me :'(

+1,
However, I don't think it's aimed at this market. I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes in Moscow!

Are you jolking? I heartily expect to start seeing these in TigerKois rarities thread the instant they come out. There are loads of people who seem to reside in London and have no taste but huge wallets, and are also colourblind smile

Only available from selected Halfords outlets. wink

When you think how good the 911 GT3 can look in black & orange,
then look at that thing. Yeuch.

Duck for cover -

I like it - if you're going to have a daft car, why stop at mildly daft? It's raher like that nonsense about the EU wanting emission control on military vehicles like tanks - love it smile
