Paris '08: Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart
New Mitsubishi hot hatch gets Evo styling
Tucked away on the Mitsubishi stand was this - the new Colt Ralliart Turbo. It didn’t seem to be getting much attention but we loved the mini Evo looks and subtle sportiness. Apparently this car is replacing the outgoing Colt CZT and the Ralliart version will be available for the first time in Europe.
The car comes with either three or five doors and gets styling to bring it in line with the rest of the range. The wheels are grey five spokes and inside there is a new instrument panel and Lancer inspired steering wheel. The CZT’s suspension has been reworked and the car is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The Colt Ralliart will be launched in November.
Discussion
it looks alright and might be quite exciting but i wonder if it really ought to have the same grill as alot of the rest of the range.
it seems that mitsubishi are fairly enamoured by their grill design as so many of their new concepts etc have it.
nothing wrong with it but might look a little samey after a while.

If they could make it almost as fast as the Corsa VXR it could be a good seller.
But will it be a 4*4????
(Doubt it)
I assume it is just a makeover of the current CZT, which is ~150bhp (the asian ralliart has a couple of extra bhp) and is FWD.But will it be a 4*4????

(Doubt it)
The 3 door only weighs in at ~1070kg so is quite light weight to some of its competition so although not as fast as a VXR its not as far off the pace as you might think...
The real question is - will it have the Brabus ForFour (remember that) state of tune to the engine?
177hp from the same 1.5 litre engine - brilliant fun!
EDIT: Apparently not... http://paultan.org/archives/2008/10/03/2009-mitsub...

Like the styling of this Mitsu, it definitely needs a power hike from the current one. My mum has a 2006 CZT and its fun in a quick, chuckable into corners n blast off kinda way.
She drives like a miser's miser and gets 51-55 MPG according to her onboard trip comp.
When I caned the dibbles off it the MPG still didn't drop below 30, just to be clear that's foot to the floor and several hours of total a
hole driving, loadsa fun! I also heard that the Smart 4/4 Brabarse has the same engine and internals yet is tuned to 177bhp stock and can be taken up to 210 bhp with a custom map and induction mods.
Mitsubishi really need to push the power up on this incarnation to keep up with its better performing rivals. Add a little more rally style "sculpting" to the arches, lower body and taper the blocky rear end and I think it would attract more attention from journos and the buying public.
Downside with these is the meteoric depreciation, after 2 years of ownership its worth slightly less than half the purchase price. I can't tell you that figure because its so embarrassing !

The Brabus would only get 177bhp on Super Unleaded though. On 95, the figure dropped to just over 150bhp IIRC...177hp from the same 1.5 litre engine - brilliant fun!

Looks a little tall for the tiny wheels or maybe it's just the angle the photo was taken at.
