Corsa Updated

New bits of trim and stuff jazz up up 04 Corsa

Vauxhall have splashed out on some minor updates to the Corsa to prolong its lease of life. New engines, new exterior trim and some funny shaped headlamps are all that it takes to lure a fresh set of monkeys to buy the car.

Coarser

From the outside the new Corsa can be recognised by its modified front and new chrome grille, larger clear glass headlamps and new colour keyed bumpers which feature plastic inserts for protection when bumping carelessly into other cars in car parks. On the inside new upholstery materials and colours are featured.

Vauxhall engineers have made modifications to Corsa’s speed-dependent electric power steering, which now has greater steering precision for sharper, more 'agile' handling, and two significant safety features are now standard on all models except the Expression – ABS and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) to give shorter stopping distances.

New ellipsoid H7 headlamps are standard on some models. Besides improving visibility they have a distinct look with three cylindrical lamp bodies inside the housing for the headlight, high beam, and turn signals.

Under the bonnet, there are changes too. There is a 1.0 12v and 1.4 16v on offer as well as two new common rail diesel engines, the 1.3 CDTi and 1.7 CDTi and the optional Albopower 1.0 (Albanian immigrant pedalling like hell).

Had a Corsa courtesy car from our Saab dealer last week. I was actually pretty impressed with it. Nimble, sharp steering and so on. Doors and interior were light and tacky, but it was OK. Compared with my wife's old soft and squashy '97 Polo it was good. 'bout the same as a Ford Ka or Fiesta, I reckon. All these superminis are at least half-decent these days.

Hang on, what am I saying? I'll get me coat.

Agree that Corsas are driven by numpties though.

Looks okay but I wouldn't change my corsa 1.6 GSi for anything. They just don't make 'em like they used to. It's great for driving round the town and over the hundreds of bloody speed bumps the council have beemed onto the roads round here.

Oi sublimatica!. I've also got a TVR Chimaera 500 too so be careful who you call a numpty!
