That stupid tax rise that would have impacted anyone with a half-decent 2001-2006 car have been shelved until next year. Hopefully the retrospective rebanding will go away completely now

Yes, a lot of cars would have had big increases but its not true (unlike the Telegraph to peddle a fib!) that ALL cars faced above inflation increases. Some of the low emission cars (I think under 130g per km) would be cheaper to tax.

Is that 'bought' or 'registered'?
If I bought a 2003 reg. 996TT in April/May 2009, how much will I pay for RFL?

Thats great news.

I'm quite enjoying this government. Almost everything they did to piss off the working population they are having to backtrack on.

Happy days. This will save me £800 pa (4 cars!)

You ever get the feeling they create the most unfavourable schemes just to U-turn closer to election day. Its not as if they can blame this one on their predecessors, it was their idea.

Only to introduce them back with compound if they win the next election, you know what to do folkssmile The rertospective element had to be one of the most nasty and vindictive measures ever proposed against cars. What next bring back the tax on engine bore or horsepower (shhhhhhhhhhhhh matteo they might be monitoring my post)mad

If everyone switched to a Citoen C1 or Hyundai i110 they would loose a fortune but impractical for most and they know it. That is why they thought up the retro scheme.
