Saddam Hussein's car for sale on eBay

A piece of... er... history
A piece of... er... history
A Rolls Royce that apparently once belonged to the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has surfaced on eBay. The maroon Corniche Convertible is said to have been one of Hussein's vast fleet of exotic and luxury cars, and is now being imported to Britain by a Surrey trader.

It comes with just 559 miles on the clock, and full copies of documents to confirm the car's previous ownership. According to the seller, this opulent barge simply requires a new ignition (no explanation of this is provided) and a new stereo, due to the original being allegedly stolen by the United States military.

The seller claims to have another eight Hussein family cars on the way, and further down the advert goes on to describe some of the other exotic rarities that he has managed to source. The advert also provides a short history of Saddam's son Uday and the grim story of his body double, though it is not clear what this particular story has to do with the Roller. Taste not accounted for, this macabre piece of history can be yours for £150,000.

Thanks to grum71 for the tip!

I bet those US Military boys were very careful when lifting the stereo out, and driving it around with a screw driver in the ignition. nono

I'd be curious whether it was genuine-depending on where it had been stored. After all the US & British Air Forces were hardly "sparing" with the use of munitions over Baghdad were they?
I'd be surprised if a large number of Saddam's luxury motors survived intact.

But then I suppose he did have several palaces-no doubt each with sizeable garages...

Totally bizarre.

I'd be very suspect of anyone who's written an ad so badly and has £150k plus to purchase cars...

Quite how its been well hidden and photgraphed in a showroom with large windows is beyond me.

"Less words is more" is never more applicable then ever here.

If that sells I'd be more than surprised.

The pictures of Saddam in the advert are quite unnecessary.

It also appears to need a new centre console, armrest lid and carpets!

Maybe the US military nicked all those bits as well! rolleyes

This car was for sale ages ago, in the same condition. You'd have thought they could have fitted a new ignition/centre console in that time. Same pics and possibly even the description.

I wonder if Rolls Royce originally supplied this directly to the former dictator or did he buy it from another source?

I wanted to make a joke about the engine maybe needing a new 'head' but you guys beat me to it.

I reckon anybody 'into' Saddam will know if its real or not. There must be a picture or some video of it somewhere.

To be honest though, if you buy this you're a bit of a to$$er.

Not quite sure what he's on, but possibly the worst eBay ad of all times.

Having said that he has a nice motorhome for sale, I quite fancy it for doing Europe next summer.
