Car jacking - anyone been affected ?....
Discussion
...I haven't personally, yet, but my brother has - twice in the last year. Both times, same thing happened - he's stopped at traffic lights (NW London suburbs), with his girlfriend was in the passenger seat. A guy (afro-caribbean both times) sidles up to the passenger door, and tries to open it.
Luckily he always locks his doors. No threats or violence and no one tried to open driver's door. When the guy found out he couldn't get in (after tugging a few more times on the door), he just walked off casually. Maybe the guy was after the girlfriend's handbag? - couldn't have been his car - clapped out old Volvo 244.
So, just a warning to EVERYONE, whatever car you drive - the threat is real, so always lock doors as soon as you get in the car. I know I'm not being very politically correct mentioning the race of the would-be carjacker, but it just corroborates what's been in the news recently.

This is of course, a real hot potato of an issue, but unfortunately, it is a sad fact that the majority of violent crime in London is perpetrated by Afro-Caribbeans. Sir Paul Condon got panned for saying it, but it really is a blight on the capital. Not facing up to the issue for fear of being accused of racism is in my opinion, plain daft.
Maybe the ones nicking Audis and so forth are part of a government job creation scheme..
I can see Blunkett and Byers sat there now.. "people in Audis can afford tax increases so they can't be priced out of their cars.. so let's force them out using man-mountains wielding screwdrivers.. and get said people off the dole at the same time.. "
Meanwhile, Blunkett's dog is peeing up Byers' leg

It's been happening for a while in Birmingham too, and theres really no way of seing an end to it. It's not just car jacking either.
Imagine, for a moment, all the money spent on dubiously sited, revenue grabbing, speed cameras, being spent instead on cameras to monitor areas where anti-car crime is a problem:
On motorway bridges (to stop filthy little plonkers who think bombing traffic is funny). In areas where car jacking is rife. To stop the irresponsible ba5tards who drive un-taxed and/or uninsured cars.
Never happen will it? Because it's easier and more profitable to prosecute ordinary, legitimate road users for minor offences.

Think it was in Auto express, but the most wanted car for bank jobs is the evo or scooby due to being the fastest thing on the roads in real conditions. Apparently people have been woken in bed at night by burglars holding them at gunpoint for the keys. They will stop at nothing. Hide it in the garage!

Unfortunately at the moment you will goto jail if you use them.....

We need to campaign to have the right to defend ourselves changed so we can Actually defend our property and our lives..
My sister had an RX7 convertible a few years ago and had the roof down a lout reached over and stole her gym bag out of the back of the car, she chased him (not a good idea) and someone jumped into the car and tried to drive off.. London traffic took over and he got about 100yds down the road before coming to a stop, some builders working on a shop front saw what was going on and chased the car down the road but the driver had run off and the first guy halso escaped...
I wouldn't want an open top car in todays violent times.
Seems as if everything favours the criminal, and no one represents us anymore.
Clear to see why we need MORE coppers and less cameras.
Why is it so wrong to defend yourself? I don't get it.
We work hard for our toys, pay tax on our earnings, pay tax on fuel, pay tax to provide Gatsos and Police --- and yet if someone tries to steal what I have paid triple Tax on, and I dare to hurt them, I get done by the system that we have paid for.
Something terrribly wrong. Makes me wanna leave this country, but where else is any better?

Have been looking into this.. Aus and NZ are ok to defend yourself property (roughly as you see fit it seems) but are becoming more PC by the week... US is too damn PC but again you can defend your home/property as you need to. Tobago is the best place in the world, with very little crime, and sunshine all day long.. Just not much in the way of work out there
