Now, this is how accidents happen!
Discussion
This afternoon I was following a Ford Escort in my tin-top through country roads near Swindon. Now, this car was doing between 35 and 40mph, I was in no real hurry and so was quite content to follow for a while, then as we turned left at a junction at approx 15mph I saw that the road was dead straight for about 1/2 mile and no traffic in sight, so I moved out to overtake and accelerated...so too did the lady driving the Escort, until I finally was able to pull in at around 65mph! I looked in my mirror to find she had reduced her speed and was now apparently back at her 'safe' 35mph
Whaddya do with people like that ? !!!

and then
F
K OFF YOU NAZI STUPID MOTHERF
KING NUMPTY BITCH ASS HOE! Why they do this I will never know.
The motorway ones are my favorite. They are in the inside doing 70, I pull out and overtake them at 80, suddenly find that I am doing 80 and not overtaking them very much and eventually have to do 90 to get past, pull in and slowly then vanish into the distance!
WHYWHYWHY?????
This is the reason God made Trevor Wilkinson invent TVR's! FOr those of us unlucky enough not to have a TVR, we shit ourselfs, and try to feebly get past. Those who own TVR's are supposed to do one thing...
Smoke 'em
Had you been in your TVR at the time, you wouldn't have looked down and seen 65Mph, More likely to have read 125mph

I can give the opposite view. Usually drive something quick but today (strangely I too was in Swindon area heading towards Oxfordshire) was in boring reliable Ford and had been followed some distance on open road by Honda - was doing 55-65 (it looked like Type R). Then I turned into what dimmo motoring hacks/journos call "fast country lanes" but in truth are usually a series of bloody blind bends. This prat had obviously been reading some of this shite. He was still some way behind but suddenly he's coming up fast in my mirror, so knowing a few 'bends' ahead I proceed on round bends - if he could have overtook on the bends he would have!! - then he zooms past ( I was right, twin exhausts Type R) and then bloody well brakes hard only just in time to take left turn. F...ing idiot! Soon back up with him up in built up area... (got him a long way ahead didn't it) he' s indicating right ..."You'll ave to wait mate..." Oh no he doesn't, he turns straight in front of oncoming traffic. Type R (arRsole). Won't be long mate, 6ft under is beckoning - trouble is some other poor bugger will go with him.
It annoys me when people speed up, not only is it against the highway code but, it makes overtaking very dangerous and can make an ill judeged over take lethal. Scotlands still a bit better because people are more used to overtaking and being overtaken and they have signs saying "Aviod frustration allow overtaking" and "Leave space for overtaking".
If I am not in a hurry and some one behind me is, I will slow down and move over to allow overtaking and make driving safer, I wish more people would be so courteous when I am in a hurry.

Just pull in front of them get a bit of space and then a full on brake pedal into the carpet emergency stop and watchthem panic , done it to a prat in an Astra yesterday , Funnily enough in Swindon !
Echo that - only way to teach the w*nkers. If it happens to them often enough they might soon learn that driving like a tit and getting the shit scared out of them are related, and stop it hopefully...
Being a driver of not very recent machinery over the last few years, I've noticed the tendency that the drivers gh0st described are normally driving more expensive motors. It's almost as though they decide that I am not worthy enough to overtake them and speed up to stop me getting past.
What really bugs me though is once you've overtaken someone which must wake them up, they overtake you, pull back in and then slow back down to their original speed causing you to either slow down or overtake again (repeat as neccesary). Numpties
