AMG Package for New E-Class

No loony power increases yet but suspension has been tweaked

The paint on the new Mercedes E-Class may only just be dry but this hasn’t stopped AMG developing a performance package for the car. It may not make the E accelerate any faster (yet) but it should go around corners quicker and stop a little better.

The suspension has been dropped by 15mm and the car has been fitted with perforated brake discs and fancy silver-painted callipers.

Visually the 2010 E-Class gets a front spoiler and side skirts to compliment the 18” AMG alloys. Inside there is ‘microfibre and faux-leather' seats and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.

That’s about it for the moment, but expect some monster bhp AMG models to start arriving soon. The kit starts around 3,000 Euros and the E-Class will be hitting European showrooms from March.

Finally Mercedes have done the inevitable-AMG is now just a trim level. They have obviously watered down their own car brand as far as possible (Vaneo'MPV'?).I look forward to the CLC 220D Mclaren and the A150 Maybach edition.

I am a Merc enthusiast and I have to say this looks horrible being the AMG model. The new C-Class looks much better.

I think it looks very Lexus-like. Stilll not patch on the 5-series in my opinion and that's getting on now

I'm actually a little suprised the wheels are 'only' 18" considering it's supposed to be the bling model.

THE STANDARD E CLASS LOOKS MUCH BETTER ALSO WITH PLENTY OF POWER, THIS DOES LOOK LIKE A LEXUS AND IT DONT LOOK QUALITY. BY THE SOUNDS OF IT I THINK IT WILL NOT MATCH THE OLD E55

I must say, I'm very very disappointed. I'm not a fan of the styling on the new E and had hoped that AMG may be able to rescue it with some much needed visual tweaks.

Not keen on this have to say, although I can see the styling hints from 60's and 70's similar models. Won't be buying one though!

This is NOT the AMG E Class, its a style package like the S Line or the M Sports package.

Is this the new E class or a current C class?

I seriously can't tell, and I say that as a man who is today dricving a C class loaner from the Merc dealer which is dreadfull by the way!

I believe this is the Avantguarde spec with many extras. Presume the amg model is likely to be more beefed up with bigger wheels, bigger brake discs, exhausts and wider subtle styling. Overall I am very disappointed.

C Class: 2 Headlamps
E Class: 4 Headlamps

So you need just four fingers to identify which one you are currently looking at.

Disappointing seeing as the full AMG model with the huge engine etc will probably look identical. It should have the "Sport" grille with the Mercedes badge in the middle, like the C Class Sport. That and 20 inch alloys. And huge exhausts. And a massive supercharged V8, with no less than 600bhp. Come on Mercedes, build proper AMG's.

Bit boring really. How about some big wheels? It doesn't matter about the handling - it's all ol crocks driving them. Stick on some 20 inch hoops, lower it a tiny bit more, make it sound good and all of a sudden people will say 'hmmmm that's nice'.

Front looks like a Lexus. Back looks like a C class and S class. Centre console looks like a piece of Vauxhall kit.

Yet i really like it?
