Large VW Saloon Unveiled
Sketch released showing 2011 super-saloon
A rather old school-looking sketch of a new mid-size VW saloon has apparently been released by the carmaker’s North American arm. The car is said to be larger than the Passat and is far more squared-off and angular than the CC.
It is understood that the car, codenamed NMS, will be manufactured at the company’s first US production facility in more than 20 years, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It shares some of its design with VW’s latest concept car, the BlueSport Roadster.
The firm says the car will be very spacious and is expected to gain the latest Fuel-Stratified Injection (FSI) petrol and TDI diesel engine units, mated to a dual-clutch transmission.
Production of the NMS is expected to begin in Chattanooga in early 2011. However it is likely the car is US-only and will not make it to the UK.
Discussion
How many Phaetons did they sell? That's right, nine. And surely those nine sales just came at cost of nine A6s and A8s.
Will they never learn? I'm guessing this is on a new/improved platform so will inform the new A6 and A8 too. Might be interesting if we see a Porker badge on it though, a mid to large saloon below the Panamera might fill the revenue gap that falling US Cayenne sales will leave.

NMS isn't a big, posh car like the Phaeton
Its designed to slot between the Jetta and Passat in the lineup (large but cheap) and is based on a mashup of VW platforms, with the Mk4 Golf (torsion bar) rear. Its meant to be a cheap, but more American offering. It should be priced against stuff like the Camry, but have the same emotional affect as the 300C.

I've seen a fair few on the vw used site which indicate a good used buy for some people...
Check your figures again maybe.....
