Looks nothing like the old Capri before you get too excited.
But it does look OK I think.

Having owned four new Capris between 1976/9 I have to say there is no link whatsoever with this car...
No shit Sherlock! Sadly, they can't make cars that look that striking any more, I think crash regs have pretty much ruled that out. The best you can expect is a Focus coupe.
The best capri was the original (also known as the consul capri), not the late 60s one

the 3rd one now announced, looks awful.... useful only for chavs and barry boys..
All IMHO of course, # Grandad John

there is no input from Ford on this at all, unless you count the engine specs (just copied from the focus). this is purely speculative bs as it's obviously a slow news week. not to mention, the photoshop work is crap.
Amazing to see how many people don't read the thread though.... still, why let fact get in the way of a good story
Nowhere in that story does it actually say that Ford are releasing this car badged as a Capri.
What it does say is that it's a Focus Coupe and will use Focus powertrains (and platform, obviously). So, not a Capri at all, then.
Maybe more like a headline-grabber cos Auto Express know very well that a new Capri would attract massive attention and get them more sales / website hits.
It even says "capri is returning - as a hatch!". So what was the last model Capri then? That's right - a hatch.
This story does the rounds every time Ford create a coupe, whether in concept or reality, and it's never been true yet. No reason why it ought to be any different this time.
Total fabrication, a non-story, it's not a Capri. Just Auto Express being Auto Express.
