I have a standard s1 Lotus Elise that i want to use as a second car for summer weekends and evenings.Unfortunately i am 40 years old, maybe that's a good thing when it comes to insurance.I have received a quote from Hagerty of £206 on a guaranteed valuation £7500 and 2000 miles NCD not taken into account has they are used on my everyday work horse a Ford Mondeo.Does anyone know of any insurance companies that could better this quote (sub £200 would be good) or should i be satisfied with what I've got? Many thanks Woody.

Try Footman James. They specialise in Classic Cars & are cheap. I have just renewed my one year comprehensive insurance with them (Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 2, value 36K, excess 200 pounds) for 263 pounds. Moreover when I was side swipped in 2005 they allowed me to choose my repairer & reimbursed me (almost) immediately.

Christ man how cheap do you want your insurance to be that is a bargain price id happily pay!!!!

Are you really that worried about saving another £6 on a £200 policy, think how fast you could get through £6 of fuel- would you worry about that?
Considering your 2000 agreed millage and £200 cost that is 10p per mile insurance. Its not going to get much cheaper than that especially with no NCD being applied.

brentacre and adrian flux might be worth a shout to.

Hi,

it does depend on other factors as well such as your postcode, driving history.

If you would like me to look into it for you then please pm me your details We do have some Insurers that can mirror your current NCB to offer an introductory discount for your second car.

Dan.

Try Heritage Insurance. They specialise in performance cars and I think offer free UK club track days. www.heritage-quote.co.uk or their sales manager is Pete Mcilvenny on 0121 246 6067.

Also give Hagerty Insurance a call on 08700 420 220 - ask for Phil - he was very helpful when I got my policy sorted for the 944.

£310 a year, 5000 miles limited milage, all the mods declared and 2 years NCB - can't get much better than that! smile
