Crossfire Roadster

Tin snips taken to Coupe

One of Chrysler's many unveilings in Detroit was the roofless Crossfire. The 2005 mode Crossfire Roadster has a powered convertible fabric top and full power hard tonneau cover.

The Roadster shares the Coupe’s rear view with a tapered, 'boat tail' appearance that emphasises the large rear wheels plus a retractable spoiler that activates when the car reaches 62 miles per hour.

The Roadster features satin silver painted "sport bars" (aren't they pubs?)  that appear just behind the driver and passenger seats.  Two race-inspired fairings integrated into the top of the tonneau cover.

Pricing, specification and timescales for the arrival of the right hand drive Crossfire Roadster in the UK have yet to be confirmed.

Ooops... the press release was riddled with superlatives - that one slipped though!

I wouldn't expect it to be too dissimilar from an equivalent engined Mercedes SLK.

Can't be worse than the coupe, though.

I simply cannot get the the idea that its back end looks like a dog taking a crap out of my head since Clarkson suggested it (in, perhaps, one of his finest observations in many a year).

I love the back end of the coupe and really can't see what people have got against it. Sure it's got a small opening but I applaud Chrysler for having the b*lls to make something different and not conforming to the norm.

Frankly, Clarkson's face looks like a dog having a crap and in terms of "What Human" magazine, performs extremely poorly in every test.

Mind you, that Crossfire concvertible stinks as it removes the one feature I wanted to applaud it for.

Incidentally, i had a look at an American test of the Crossfire against the Audi TT and they preferred the Crossfire but only marginally. However, the Crossfire was around $35000 and the Audi, in a role reversal, was just under $40000. So it all boils down to where the car is shipped from. Even so, I think the Crossfire should be cheaper and the price is a cynical trading on the success of the Viper and PT Cruiser.

I saw a TVR Griffith today. It was a blatant copy of another TVR Griffith. Shocking.
