Will common sense really prevail and this won’t become law? I’m sure we’d all like to think so but I can’t help worrying that its something that will just sneak through the back door anyway. After all us motorist are such a soft target for all other manner of heinous crimes and revenue generation etc. why not keep it going soapbox

Just another dying gasp from Labour, it's as likely to happen as everything else Gordo promised yesterday

I saw a guy run across the road, where my lane was stopped and the oncoming traffic was moving, he must have been late as he ran across the road without looking.

There was a Subaru Impreza coming the other way and your man smashes his arm off the rear spoiler, if he was one second earlier he would have been knocked down. I felt kinda sick when I realised he could have been hit full on.

I wonder who the police would have sided with there.

So if a cyclist and a pedestrian collide, who will be blamed for that?

The nearest driver, obviously. Can't you see the way this is going?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I suppose the only pragmatic solution to this, assuming your car does collide with a cyclist and you're sure you're not to blame, is to make sure you get the details of some 'reliable' witnesses?
If you are to blame because you drove too close or weren't paying attention then you deserve whatever the court gives.
