Just in case anyone cares...

The European Car of the Year for 2010 is the Volkswagen Polo.

The all-new Volkswagen Polo was announced the winner in the European Car of the Year contest on Monday.

The hatchback received 347 points and was chosen ahead of the Toyota iQ (with 337 points), Opel Astra (221 points), Skoda Yeti (158 points), Mercedes-Benz E-Class (155 points), Peugeot 3008 (144 points) and Citroen C3 Picasso (113 points) by a 59-member panel of judges.

Why can't they wait until the end of the year to decide on this ? i.e., they'd now be announcing the COTY 2009.

Ah, I see, it's just the Carmakers Club trying to drum up future sales.

Sorry, almost forgot what the real world is about there.
