Mobile Navigator

Now your phone can guide you

Mobile phones are about to enter their next stage of usefulness and navigation is one of the first applications that will make a real impact.

The new Wayfinder system is the world’s only mobile phone navigation tool and uses GPRS and GPS technology to guide you.

Wayfinder guides you along roads with voice instructions so you don’t have to stop and read paper maps. The screen also shows a clear map too, just for extra knowledge.

The GPRS technology used by Wayfinder is such that it needs to work in a Symbian mobile phone; currently: Nokia 3650, 3660, 7650, N-Gage or 6600; Sony Ericsson P800 or P900, Sendo X or Siemens SX1 .  The first level of Wayfinder, the Mobile MapGuide™, is pre-installed into the Nokia 6600. The Mobile MapGuide™ is a map and route guidance application that helps you find places and give directions how to get to them. It upgrades to Wayfinder Mobile Navigator™, which turns your Nokia 6600 phone into a fully-fledged, GPS-based real-time navigation system, with live maps, turn-by-turn directions, and voice instructions.

A complete Wayfinder Mobile NavigatorTM costs RRP £350 inc VAT.

Wayfinder is available from www.totalpda.com , www.totalgps.com and www.widget.co.uk .

And a paper map and a sense of direction costs what? £10 at the most? I know which method I'll be choosing

Hmm - given the size of the screen on a P800 I'll think I'll stick to my PDA based one for the Noble and the factory fitted one for the X5..
