WHERE HAS ALL THE V-POWER GONE????

OMG We have no V-POWER in the Country! thats what I've just been told by SHELL UK, I live in S
horpe where we have 2 Shell petrol stations, 1 ran out 3 weeks ago and the other yesterday! they don't know when they'll be getting any more either!
I've just rang SHELL UK(0800 731 8888) they have a technical problem and have run out of V-POWER and they can't say if it will be days, weeks or months before normal service is resumed!
Whats going on? has anyone else noticed this in their towns????????????????

Let me explain.
The petrol companies, and the garages, are doing what they always do. They see big price increases coming, so they hoard their existing stock. Royal Dutch Shell will be among the first to look after number one. V Power is simply high grade fuel which has not been diluted to the lower octane level, so it is more valuable, and it makes sense not to sell it for pounds sterling which are depreciating fast and will shortly be so much toilet paper.
I fear, and in fairness I have been saying this for some time, but it hasn't happened, that we will shortly be in the Weimar Germany stage of a currency collapse, and then lads we won't be buying any fuel at all, and any that the UK produces will be going abroad to buy food just to stop the riots and looting. it's going to be Export or Die again, and Die is likelier.
David Cameron isn't going to get a chance to sort out the vested interests, even if he has the balls for it (when they include people like Lord Ashcroft and William Hague) because Gormless Brown's options are to keep spending money he doesn't have or shoot himself in the study, and because all those people with worthless degrees in non-jobs, and the increasing number of people in both public and private sectors who are trying to deleverage and praying for government spending not to be cut, are still going to vote for him. Labour have created a utopian economic model upon which the entire nation is dependent and which is unsustainable and collapsing, with nothing to replace it. The nation is buster than Buster Keaton. It can't afford its politicians, its national and local government, its PFI payments, its public sector pensions, nothing.
The value of sterling is based not on gold or other physical assets but on the confidence which investors have in its retaining its value. In essence that comes down to the people of the UK and their willingness and ability to work. While there are plenty of good people, there are a very large number who are not doing anything useful at all, who are in denial about the nature of reality and determined to remain so until the whole house comes crashing down around them. When the international markets realise that there is no recovery strategy and furthermore the majority of the population wouldn't back one if there was, you are looking at meltdown. Given that a general election is expected on 5th May 2010, the expectation is that the Tories will win, and do something about it. There is a realisation that Labour have no plan other than keep spending money, and if THEY win, which they easily might, the meltdown will occur within days if not hours. In the meantime we can expect a steadly decline in the value of Sterling as the realisation dawns that we are actually too late for the Tories to do anything about it. This could cause a crisis even before the election, and we will have a whole lot more than the absence of V Power to worry about.
Its a good time to emigrate.

I asked this question last week at the Shell in Wellesbourne.
I was told that they hadn't had any V-Power for 4 weeks due to a problem at one of the refineries leading to a shortage; as they are a franchise they get their supplies of V-Power after the Shell garages. The Shell owned garages are getting their V-Power on a pro rata basis; if they sell a lot of it, they are getting priority treatment.
The Shell in Kenilworth has V-Power and knows nothing of a shortage, but they are not a franchise.
Not a clue how true it is, but it seems a lot more feasible than cardigankid's theory
