Tracker vs RAC Trackstar
Discussion
Further to previous topics, has anyone got a view on which of Tracker or RAC Trackstar is the best? The RAC seems to be more expensive (£924 all-in for life on their website) vs about £750 for a roughly equivalent Tracker (I think). I get the feeling that RAC is the preferred one, but any comments welcome, as I need to decide which one to go for? Do RAC come out to fit, or do you have to go to their depot or something?
Also, anyone know how much one of those metal car security posts costs?

I know that RAC Trackstar has an amazing record for getting back stolen vehicles. I think they've only ever not recovered one vehicle intact, the chassis was located in an underground carpark stripped to the metal, but it was still found.
Tracker certainly have a good reputation and I don't think their GPS recovery system is that much different. If I was in the same situation I think price would dictate my decision.

If your car is stolen and you get it back, that will surely go on it's record as stolen-recovered and therefore it'll lose value accordingly. I wouldn't buy a car that had been stolen and recovered... surely by fitting one of these systems you are making things worse for yourself (as well as spending the best part of a grand that could be put to use on upgrades).
Have I missed the point?
Bonce.

I'll be fitting one to the TR6, probably the Trackstar. The amount of hours and cash I've invested in that thing there's no way I'd not want ot back.
Speaking from experience, if you buy wisely, you can pick up some real bargains "stolen-recovered". Let's face it - you don't buy a car as an investment (well I don't anyway), and given the low price you can pay for these things you can hardly lose money.
