Jaguar Concept 8

Take it easy - LWB Jag is all about relaxing

In these days of cramming in work at every opportunity, Jaguar have come up with a concept car that encourages stressed out business types to relax and take a breather.

The new Concept 8 is built on the long wheelbase version of the XJ saloon and comes complete with a full length glass roof allowing you to marvel at the moonlight whilst supping a glass of Guinness and nibbling at a Cornish pastie.

Again, going against the grain Jaguar haven't filled the interior with gadgets. There are no laptops built into the lumbar support, no satellite links in the headrests and no plasma screens hanging around the chauffeur's neck. The interior is simply filled with fine materials. Deep carpets, chilled champagne (or ), Waterford Crystal, subtle LED lighting and even essential oils let you sit back and relax - an activity that's rapidly going out of fashion. They did manage to squeeze in a LCD DVD system with 14 speakers and an 860W amplifier for those moments of when relaxation turns to boredom.

"The Concept Eight is not about cramming in half an hour's work on the way to and from the airport ," said Julian Thomson, Chief of Advanced Design, Jaguar Cars. "It is a car that exudes British good taste and calmness. It has a very relaxed but contemporary feel about it. Jaguar is not an 'all work and no play' company and the Concept Eight reflects that. When you ride in it you should get the same feeling of well-being that you would enjoy if you stayed in a boutique hotel ."

Up front, ensuring sufficient wafting capability is a supercharged 4.2 litre V8 pumping out a glorious 390bhp.

Ah, I was a bit afraid for Jag after seeing the estate . . . Good almost old fashion power looks looking good. Like the champy . . . red carpet in the back and the red linelight. Strange and unnecessary vertical thingy under the outside mirror. This one for weekdays and the R500 after I do the weekendshopping. Spin baby . . .

Only problem is that I'd have to let somebody else have all the fun and drive it...

Yet another concept from Jaguar.

It's very, very nice. But when are Jaguar going to stop producing concepts, and start turning their concepts into production cars?????

I want one of those small concepts with the 2.5 V6 Bi-turbo diesel. Can't remember what it was called but

La incorporación de este motor 2.7D V6 Bi-Turbo posiciona a la gama S-Type entre las berlinas diesel de lujo, ampliando además el perfil del cliente que llegue hasta los vehículos de la marca británica.

Why did they take the air-vent from the Range Rover? That just looks ugly!
I like the rest though...

They've just dumped the Daimler marque (which is a shame as I was expecting a Maybach-basher badged a Daimler in the same vein as the MKX). I suppose this will have to do.

It's hardly a concept is it, stretched XJ, limo lights, few choice accessories, you could almost order this today down your local jag dealer

Big deal!!!!!

RD-6, I believe. And I'm sure I've heard tell of it being a production possibility for a 1-series competitor.

pity they never made the XKR-R now that was the sort of XK I would buy, the standard ones are a bit lame.

If it "exudes British good taste" why is it left hand drive?

Yanks eh?

So they've recreated a 1971 Daimler Vanden Plas LWB. Sound good. Now all they want is a mobile phone zapper.

This allows one's chauffeur a short step to the kerb before opening the door for one. Stepping out into the traffic can be dangerous, and good servants are SO hard to find.

Although I like them, I think the wheels are a bit "Max Power-ish"
