The long running American news magazine programme "60 Minutes" has run a story on Top Gear. For those of you in the UK, 60 Minutes runs on CBS, a network aimed primarily at elderly people who are completely out-of-touch with popular culture. This is clearly evident when the reporter has to explain to the veiwing audience what Top Gear is and what it's about.

Here the story, as it was broadcast:

Here's an expanded clip on the incident when they were being chased by rednecks in Alabama:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jG0D2nRGrQ

And more from Clarkson on what makes a good car.

60 Minutes Overtime had more bits, too:

Unfortunately, the adverts imbeded within the videos are unavoidable.

MUST ADMIT STARTED TO WATCH BUT AS STATED 'ADVERTS' WHICH SEEMS PREVALENT ON YANK T.V. SOON GOT ME SO BORED I GAVE UP. Did however liked presenter saying British BLOKES, not that infernal 'guys' word that has infected our language. Does anyone else think it would be nice if we could try using men, bloke, chaps, for women, ladies, girls, lasses etc. instead of that infernal yank word.

Most annoying is presenters of any prog. who descibe animals or inanimate objects as 'guys'. What do you readers think.

- not overly fussed, really: it's Italian, originally, I believe, rather than American: although the word it's derived from became a slang word for working class Italian-Americans in the US.

MAGIC919. thanks for the ad. free link was finally able to enjoy, impressed with open minded American journalism without sarcasm.

MARKwG.

thanks for backgound to 'that' word, mind you doubt many people would know that, so it's their word now.

now if i could only figure how to link my replies to which person by 'boxing around' comments that would be 1 less itch to scratch, in my tetchy world.
