With a tuscan on my fathers side of the family and having worked for caterham my biast advice is to get the caterham. so much fun and more predictable making it easy to muck around and look like a hero. theres not many roundabouts wide enough for me to have the confidence to get the arse out in the tuscan! but i suppose its more weatherproof the tuscan.

Tuscan all the way. The speed six can be a bit naughty if it's not been looked after though admittedly. Theres going to be loads of them around around that have had knowledgable, enthusiastic owners though (if you look in the right place).
Oh and it's one of the best looking cars ever made! (imho obviously...)

You just need more practise, you can easily steer with the throttle once you learn the car.

Tuscan makes a good tourer, I test drove a Caterham when my Griff 500 went in for its 3rd engine rebuild and I was getting a bit fed up, they are great and I would like one but to own alongside the Tuscan.

Got the Tuscan in the end and love it, be aware engines might well need attention, mine needed a rebuild after I put on 40k of reasonably hard miles, and over heated it blowing the head gasket, still did a lot better than my Griff.

Think the Tuscan would be a good choice as you've had a Caterham already, prices are pretty stable so you could buy it, run it a while and if you don't enjoy it sell and buy the R300.

One of my other half's managers has a Tuscan as a weekend toy, he absolutely loves it! Would he trade it in for a Caterham? Yep! wink

The Caterham every time
Because when you get to the track all those TVR's will be behind you, even the GT3's are slow and in the way
The R300 is a great base to upgrade from too

if you did not already fill your boots with racing I would have maybe plumped for the Caterham but as you do not need the on track thrills its got to be the Tuscan. You already know that a road car can not match a properly prepared race car so you might as well enjoy some creature comforts from your toy.

Tuscan will be far more practical for those Sundays out, even the wife might enjoy a day out in the Tuscan (or is the wife enjoying it a bad thing?).
