RE: Hyundai at the Motor Show

Hyundai at the Motor Show
HCD8 will be on show at the NEC
Hyundai will have various models on show in Birmingham, most of which are unlikely to get petrolheads' pulses beating with the exception of their latest concept car.
The HCD8 was the brainchild of the Hyundai Design and Technical Centre in Irvine, California, and has won great praise when it was first shown at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of the year. The HCD8 gives a strong indication of the future direction for the Hyundai Coupe.
Discussion
Merc badge on the front and people would buy a Hyundai!

The HCD8 with its supercharged 250 hp 2.7-liter V6 engine, 6-speed manual transaxle and tuned dual exhaust provides performance to match its styling. For real world driving, the driver can adjust the ride height a total of four inches through the air suspension. The vehicle can sit low for high-speed touring or can be raised to handle inclement weather, avoid parking wheel stops, handle a car wash or any other situation where additional ground clearance is needed.

Why bother with such crap
No visibility in any direction
Huge high waisted lardy lump with no glass area and no storage (size of glass hatch)
Why do they bother to make "pretty" designs that would be so compromised to be unrecognizable should a production version follow.
Better to make "pretty" production cars
oh, and its a hyundai

Is the rear a riced-out Renault Laguna or what?
Do you want Hyundai to make unattractive cars or are they allowed to take a step?
They already make unattractive cars. They can take a step but I'd rather it was forward rather than backward or sideways. As pointed out above, they should at least try to avoid falling into the trap of producing countless pointless and impractical concepts like the Japanese do. This is a very blobby car although perhaps the photos don't do it justice. Nothing worse than a car you can't see out of.
Ultimately, producing unrealistic concept cars will only lead to ultimate disappointment at the production car. Far better to take a leaf out of the Viper/Crossfire/350Z/VW book and produce a car with a production possibility.
I hate it. Why do all Eastern sports cars end up with "Chinese eyes" headlights? This may look good to them but not to me. Rather like the latest incarnations of the MX5 and MR2 they seem to be going backwards in styling terms. The original MX5 looked better as did the previous MR2.
I Like the blue one though. What is it?
