What annoys me intensely is all these green activists etc banging on about how 4x4 vehicles are bad for the environment, but I have NEVER heard them mention anything about performance and super cars such as Ferrari's or Aston Martins - the fact that they never mention these kinds of cars proves how miss informed/guided they all really are - do they somehow think that these kinds of cars are any better for the environment than your average Ford Focus (For arguments sake). I tend to think the kind of people with these views just have a problem with 4x4 cars in general with no real justification, which is ridiculous. People with expensive performance cars pay their road tax and insurance just like everyone else and they receive no heat . Last time I checked, 4x4 users also pay their road tax the same as the rest of us, so what's the problem. Rant over smile

They do miss the point about the fact there are vehicles with higher emissions, also it would be great if people got caught speeding with the sticker over their numberplates wouldn't it.

10/10 for making your self look just as cretinous as they are, & please don't use "pistonheads" as your user name because I don't want to be associated with juvenile remarks like that.

Does he own the site? Well they're not coming from here then, they're coming from him.

I'd say it was right to target 4x4s as opposed to supercars or high emission luxury cars. There are thousands more of them than supercars, they do way more miles per year than a pampered supercar. Also they're generally unnescessary for the job they do, a lower emission estate car would do the job of most Chelsea tractors. Largely the 4x4 is a status symbol or seen as the safest way to get Tarquin and Cressida to school.

I'm not anti 4x4s or supercars (I like to own one someday) but I can see the activist's logic. That doesn't mean I agree with their methods.

But to get back on topic a little - there is a huge degree of naivety in their writings.

Assumptions that most Discoverys are petrol. Attacking 4x4s and probably missing out all the normal looking 4wd cars (Audi, for example). The consistently flawed logic that the big cars are the most polluting.

And, let's not forget, what they are doing is very, very wrong. Sticking things on other people's cars - you can guarantee that many of them will not realise for a long time.

Its often the way Tony, they get so caught up on their eco bandwagon that it becomes very easy to ignore the actual facts. They also clearly think that because they live in nice houses and shop at waitrose that they somehow gain more credibility than people with long hair and beards doing the same.

Indeed, and that using words like;

"thoughtful, evocative and gently provocative"

somehow makes what they're doing less serious, less contentious and less aggresive.

There's nothing "gentle" about it. You're covering up people's numberplates - the act itself is not illegal, but the result is to the owner.

There's no honour in this act. Vandalism of off-road vehicles. Great, well done. You're really making a difference.

Ooo, and I should say I did like your invitation to sticker your car. Was it yesterday you posted that, so today you should see them?
