Cameroon international and Arsenal player Alex Song's Range Rover has been impounded after he tried driving away from police who were anxious to talk to him about speeding matters. According to this BBC story 'the driver was unable to verify relevant documentation' and 'following checks the vehicle was seized on suspicion of the driver not being insured to drive the vehicle'.
I just wonder how many Prem footballers brought into this country from abroad go to the bother of insuring their cars or indeed taking their driving tests.

Very few. The clubs are very careful about things like this. Do you think they'd simply let a million pound signing drive a performance car in a new country without checking that they had the necessary 'qualifications' so to speak? It could land them in a world of trouble. Most of these top-level players have every service they'd ever need supplied free of charge from the club. Man Utd have their own team of contracted workmen who players contact when they need plumbing sorted, for example. I'd be surprised if they didn't have some kind of insurance policy to cover the use of vehicles and whatnot.

Sure you're right there but driving is fun and not something you can enjoy with someone else at the wheel. There was a Wigan player (I think) earlier this year who fell foul of something similar to this IIRC.

Anderson of Man UTD is a tt of the highest order when it comes to driving, Now dont get me wrong i like a blast where conditions permit but driving like a dick slap bang in the centre of Alderley edge aint the time or the place.

he roared up behind me in his white Audi R8 and literally sat a foot off my bumper, then overtook me and cut me up forcing me to take action to avoid hitting the little twerp.

He then floored it onto the high street and must have hit at least 50 mph on a packed high street, sadly i would imagine he wouldn't get nicked on cameras as i'm sure it had a French registration.

It didn't surprise me when he crashed a few months back.
