Hello, a newbie here.

I've seen a Y plate Peugeot 206 hdi d turbo. It looks very sporty and is fully kitted up.

It's also a cat d - I'm not too sure what that means -but I'm not really bothered about that.

Any advice is most appreciated.

STOP!!!!!!

DO be bother about it!!!!!!

Cat D means the vehicle has be involved in an insurance claim, whilst Cat D is the lowest grade it will still adversley affect the value of the vehicle substantially (reduces it by 30-50%)

I'm not saying dont buy it, but go into it with your eyes wide open and get it professionally inspected.

Ah ok. It is on pretty cheap. I actually can't remember seeing the cat d on the log book either.

Generally is the 206 hdi d turbo a good car?

The record of the insurance write off is recorded on what is commonly known as the 'HPI register'

Not had much to do with Peugeots but the 206 Diesels are generally regarded to be one of the best small car diesels.

As regard to common problems/faults, cant comment.

Please make sure you understand the implications regarding buy a car 'on the register', if you search 'general gassing' you'll find this subject has been discussed on serveral occasions, as I mentioned earlier they are worth less, are harder to resell due to the markets resistance towards them, and your insurance company may load your premium
