Hazard lights not working - dismantle indicator stalk??

Has anyone ever removed their indicator stalk and the hazard light button at the end?

My hazard lights don't work, the fuse is okay (as the sidelights work), so next stop is the switch. I can't see how it comes apart..... has anyone done this and is able to give me some advice please?

Or, any ideas what else I should be checking for that matter?

Yes do a search for hazards or for me.

I had to replace the wire in the stalk and beyond as it had melted. Not good.

But not a bad job once I had worked out how to dismantle the stalk

There are a couple of really thin wires that come from the hazard switch - blue and black IIRC. The button at the end just pulls out, but you first have to free up a bit of slack in them at the steering coloumn end, to allow the button to be pulled out.
Also check the 2 thin wires, they connect to a little circuit board above the steering column.

Thanks for your thoughts - I will have a look later (although not sure that this is my sort of job! I'm not talented or experienced, but will it a go .

Gruffalo - I think it is okay cos' all the component parts of the hazards are working independently. Could be the wrong assumption though ........
