Headlight designs?

I thought there were only two headlight types available on the TVR. The early style and then the spiders eyes ones?

I assume these are the early lights just covered up? Were these ever standard, can the covers be bought aywhere and if they were ever fitted standard when were these available?

p.s. I'm just being naughty and reading through the Cerbera classifieds again. It seems I have to do this every now and then since I owned my Cerbera. They have that effect.

The headlights in the pictures were a one of,done by the owner and never offered by TVR.

Those lights are a one-off although are similiar to the racing cerbs.

The lights on Cerbs went through 3 designs:-

1. Round headlights
2. Tuscan style projector lights but in a pod (in the hole where the round lights would have been) - from sometime in approx 2000, although S6's stuck with round headlights for longer (maybe for ever).
3. Blended in tuscan style lights from sometime in approx 2002

Lots of cars have been modded and so the above only applies to how they left the factory.

I did the 996TT for 3 years after a 4.5 Cerb. I found it very fast but somewhat clinical to drive, so recently bought a late 4.5 Cerb again. There's nothing quite like them for character.

I dont know about the light units themselves (eg Lupo or whatever) but the covers are from a T350 I think ?

It makes me think hmmm was the constant fear of breakdown/death really that bad? The cramped cabin that smelt of oil really that big a price to pay for the times the right opportunity presented itself and you had 'a good run'

Nothing else other than a bike has made me nervous before I've even left the house but when my friend used to call and asked if wanted to go out for a road trip with the boys I used to shake with adrenalin just picking up the keys and putting my shoes on. You don't get that with a 996

I've thought of more modern TVR's but heard many times that no other TVR handles like a Cerbera on aftermarket coilovers. If you want a pure racer there aren't many drivers cars like the Cerbera.

That said and from the broader perspective of a non-owner (at the moment), the GT3 is pretty damn close as a driving experience and you don't get the fear of breakdown. The turbo can't match the driving experience but offers easily the same pace (definitely more than my 4.2). If you could combine the two you'd have my perfect car but Porsche tried that and failed. Called it a GT2.

As it is we're all left stuck with our own compromises on perfection.. those lights do look nice though maybe. One day

It's my cerb in the link.

They are Tamora headlamp units with the headlamp covers from the last from the line Chimeras. Was not an easy mod, the whole wing had to be cut about. There are picture of how it was done on my rebuild thread (see profile or advert)

Ridds at chatsworth took pictures of every variation of cerbera headlamp and said he would post them all up.... Get on with it Matt!

That reminds me the links in your add are not right. You posted the same link twice rather than the build link.

I did read the thread but it's hard as a potential buyer to justify a Cat C car over an earlier Cerb without the accident history. Just letting you know. Like the car though, hope it does sell for you.

Thanks for letting me know! I have tried to change the link but there is an error message when I try to update the advert.

I can see what you mean re the accident history, I have tried to price it accordingly. It probably suits someone that wants to keep the car for a long time without the worry of having to shell much out in the future in terms of chassis, clutch and other large costs. If someone just wants a cerb for a year or two to satisfy a whim then it probably is not for them.
