Windows 7?

Does the diagnostic software run on windows 7? Or will it only work on the old operating systems, 98, etc?

Not used it on W7 but it works fine on XP Pro

No, Win7 did not work when I tested it recently

Yes It works fine, I run it on my little net book and no problems more likely your USB-Serial could cause you issues. I bought mine from Maplin and it worked first time. PL2303 chip set in that one some pl2303 don't work so it's hit or miss but maplins one does work bit more expensive at £15 and it will not fry your ECU unlike taking the risk on cheap e-bay ones.

I gave up trying to get to work with windows 7 and usb, bought a cheap panasonic toughbook off ebay running windows 98 worked first time

Same here, after a day strugling with vista with a USB/serial adapter nipped out and bought a second hand compaq laptop running XP - plug and play - simple.

I didnt get as far as the cable. I couldn't even download the software!

I have an old laptop I used to use but it has died so I thought I'd use my proper laptop running 7.

I'll try again later, maybe find a different website to download from.

If you do go and get a usb-serial adapter and install it make sure you use the same USB slot on the computer that you installed the driver software on to as it wont work on any other usb slots, make sure it is always set to comm port 1 as the software only seems to like that.

Think my auto default after the driver installation was comm port 12.
