Viewing Cerbera on Tuesday.
Discussion
Hi Cerb owners. I'm aware that there's probably millions of threads on this forum covering the same old ground, but I'm posting from my phone so its just simpler to ask.
Its only a tentative enquiry for now, but I'll be going to look at a 1998 Cerbera 4.2 on Tuesday. I've researched on insurance and everything checks out so that's the major obstacle out of the way. A couple of questions; I've read all about the well documented chassis issues with these cars. Where exactly do I need to be poking about to check the solidarity?
Secondly, what sort of level should the oil pressure etc be sat at when the engine is cold and when it warms through? Is there anything I need to be looking out for on a drive? For example, are heavy clutches normal or should I be worried?
Any other nuggets of information and tips would be very useful. For reference, the engine is the 4.2 AJP, 46000 miles on the clock. Supposedly FULL TVRSH and all old invoices and MOTs.
Thanks in advance.

Check the outriggers, the worst damage can't normally be seen, as they rot from the top down, or the inside out. Check the 4 corners, ie the bits of the chassis near the wheels.
The oil pressure varies from car to car, but you want about 30 hot and no less than 70 cold at tickover.
Check everything electrical works. Check wipers work.
The clutch feel varies from car to car, I uprated my slave cylinder and mine is quite light in feel.
Shamelessly stolen from Plasticman's thread:

Or you could buy mine.

So, I went to see it today, with Bobbins very kindly joining me. Simon, I'm extremely grateful for you accompanying me today and being so patient after all my questions, queries and nerves. Thanks again. The noise that comes out of yours is hilarious!
The car was beautiful. Its in at Selby TVR today for some work on the power steering, which isn't working, and for a service. The chassis has certainly had some rust protection applied recently, but the guys at Selby are going to be having a really good check when its on ramps and will give me a run down of its condition tomorrow. She has good history with an absolute mountain of bills and receipts. There is a gap between 2002 and 2006 in the service book BUT there are plenty of receipts from that period. Virtually all work has been carried out by TVR dealers or specialists.
Does anybody here recognise the plates R201FNW, or H8YPT?

Thanks Simon. So do I, my fingers and toes are crossed. I haven't settled down at all tonight, weighing things up, thinking about the positives but then tying my stomach up in knots worrying about the "what ifs". This could be the best purchase I'll make in my entire life, or it could be the worst. I love a bit of risk, but christ this one's got me chewing my nails.
