After hearing about Olly's trials and tribulations before his first trip to Le Mans I was feeling very fortunate that my cerb wasn't giving me any grief before its annual pilgrimage to La Sarthe. That was before my throttle cable snapped whilst I was in the middle of nowhere on the way back from Le Mans today.
So we break out the St George chairs, iPad for watching Clarkson and wait for the depannage truck to arrive .... on a french bank holiday.
So without much hope of rescue I was readying myself for a long journey home with the cerb on the back of a flatbed.
Thanks no 1 to the motorcyclist who stopped to offer his help.
Thanks no 2 to the french lady who also offered her phone for us to use (although I doubt she'll be reading this)
Thanks no 3 to James Agger who happened to be driving past and was carrying a spare throttle cable for his griff (alas it didn't fit)
And finally thanks no 4 to the french mechanic who made up a new cable enabling me to be here at home writing this.
Amazing day, great weekend and for any of you that hasn't made ir to Le Mans yet .... best get planning now.
