Pinking at low revs under light load

Chaps,

Slight issue with mine, I think it might be the standard rubbish 4.5 map at fault but would value the collective opinion.

Between 1k - 2k rpm it pinks under light throttle, give it a bit more throttle and all fine. Only seems to be an issue there, the rest of the rev range is seems fine under all conditions (aside from a very brief flat spot when accelerating hard, about 4k if memory serves)

Thoughts?

Are u using super fuel? I've noticed pinking on my 4.2 using standard fuel

I did think this might be the best option, might try the short hoses at the same time.

Even if you don't go for the short induction there's plenty of improvement to be had. You might be able to get a generic map that would improve things too - don't know who offers what these days.

Speak to Don at TVR Power, they have a range of generic maps that they have developed over the years.

What fuel are you using,mine will not run on 95 octane,it pinks on 97 octane but runs great on 99 octane,use V-Power or Tesco`s Momentum.

I agree with Gazzab - ditch them. My Indie ripped them out in disgust, and showed me all where they had been arcing, it was all over. he fitted a standard set and there was a big improvement.

In my experience nothing but they seem to cause borderline hysteria for some.

Caused misfire and preignition problems for many people, myself included.

How does a shorting plug lead cause pre-ignition?

Leads were not shorting butthe spark was not good, used a mega to test the leads and they seemed OK but the car didn't like them, especially from low revs, pinking was noticable. I changed them over to OEM and all was OK again. Don't ask me why

HHMMmmm. I've been having problems at low revs and I have the Magnecor leads, what leads are recommended (price IS an issue for me at the moment!)

OK. I asked for that... 'Standard ones' for a TVR will be pricey, are the same ones used in any 'ordinary' cars and available at a lower price?
Or can you supply any?

ETA According to Clever Trevor OEM ones are no longer available1
