sports exhaust question.

I currently have a standard exhaust with de-cats and a standard back box. It sounds ok but is still a bit quite for my liking. I want to know if A, Will it increase bhp at all or worse will it loose any power due to incorrect back pressure, and B, will it need to be re-mapped if I fit a sports exhaust. The car is a standard 98 4.2. PS, anyone got a cheap used sports ex. for sale?

Generally should see a small/marginal increase in bhp. A remap is not essential post sports exhaust, but its a good idea to get done anyway

Be warned though, they are VERY loud when you first fit them, mine have quietened down a bit now they have 500 miles on them and I find them fine for cruising around on the motorway. The crackle and bangs on the over run sound like small arms fire in a tunnel tho!

I have the full ACT system including the headers on my 4.5, noticable increase in power and the noise, well just listen and make your own mind up if you like it. Can hold a conversation at 80-90 no problems.

Not sure on the bhp but they make a fantastic sound. The only problem I find is I keep losing the balance so I always have one slightly lower than the other.

Thanks chaps, have just paid for a very loud custom made system. will have to wait to hear just how loud they will be.
