Bypass Immobiliser? Starting Problem...

Had a little starting problem ever since I've owned my Cerbera, but recently its been getting worse and very annoying!
Basically when I hold the black button to start it, the fuel pump goes but the starter does nothing.
To try to start it I've found myself just turning the immobiliser on and off continuously until it eventually starts.
I would say it does this 50% percent of the time, other times it fires up first time straight away.
I am certain it is an immobiliser problem, bit of research and it seems common.

I've noticed there are a few guys on here that have managed to bypass the starter on the immobiliser on the Chimaera and offered instructions, but I'm unsure whether or not the Cerbera is the same?
Could anyone help me out?

To be perfectly honest, unless you are confident reading a wiring diagram and following the wiring harness in the car, then you shouldn't try doing this yourself. I strongly suggest that you take it to someone who is familiar with car electrics.

Also with only 12 posts in 5 months and wanting to bypass the immobiliser. I hope you will understand that people here will be reluctant to give you instructions by PM.

Carl Baker has a very good reputation in dealing with these sorts of issues as I am sure will any other TVR indie

Sorry didn't mean to say I was totally useless. To be honest I can easily read a wiring diagram and follow instructions, its just that if I was left to do it without any ideas I wouldn't have a clue.

Agreed - No one should give this info out. I don't want anyone knowing how to bypass my mobiliser!!

You need to get the car to Carl Baker

Im not sure Carl would advocate bypassing immobiliser.
He was telling me that if you do, you are effectively uninsured if it gets stolen.
He has been involved with insurance companies to investigate such matters!

I bypassed the one on my old chim just to test to see if it was the immob that was causing the issue. it was so it was sent to Mr Baker for repair.

Hello everybody.
I totally agree with the last post.
I'm from France, so my risks are quite few to cross a guy would have been informed how to bypass the immobiliser or how to get the secret entrance to the car.
In fact, if you got problems as doors not opening or immobiliser problems, why don't you call your garagist or event take you car to a specialist to fix it ?
It sounds so easy to go like this !
I know some secrets about cerbera as i sent my car to french specialists that explained me how to... and how to...
But, it wasn't on a forum or by phone !
I know how to bypass it, but i will never explain it on PH forum or anywhere at all !

No one has ever told me the "secret" route to get in. I think tbh after owning one for a couple of years I could work it out

It's all very well saying take it to Carl Baker, but we don't all live in the South of England. If you live near Petersfield all well and good, I used to live near Portsmouth so no shortage of TVR dealerships quite close by, but I now live in Mid Wales and there is not a garage (to my knowledge)within 80 miles that will touch a TVR Cerbera as far as they are concerned they are too much trouble. Consequently DIY is essential. So far as sorting the starting problems out is concerned the immobiliser does not need to be bypassed. The problem arises because the immobiliser does not send the correct voltage to the solenoid, so by utilising the start cable from the press button via a relay you can take the full voltage from the battery and stick it on the solenoid, problem solved, most relays will activate with as little as 8V being present, the voltage being passed from my immobiliser to the solenoid was, when it wouldn't start was only 10V. The immobiliser remains in the circuit.

If anyone isn't in the South-East, I know Carl regularly travels around the country sorting various cars, so maybe give him a ring. If you're not in a rush, you may be able to tie something in??
