Whilst i was removing my suspension i noticed that two of the upper diff bolts where loose, i tried to tighten them up but as they started to get tight they would spin, so that was that and i knew that it needed sorting. To try to speed things up i tried to remove the back plate in situate which wasn't successful, so out with the diff second time in a year, so no stuck bolts etc which is good i guess.

Took the diff to work, removed the back plate and used the drill press to drill and tap the holes properly, originally i was going to heli coil the holes but thought about it and the heli coils i had are too short as you can get long and short type for depth of the hole. Any way drilled to 10.2mm then tapped to 12mm thread.

Just need to reseal it tonight and fit it back up next week

if a jobs worth doing right and all that, only using the skills i've learned over the last 10 years working on trains of all things, but a nut and bolt is a nut and bolt reguardless of size or use.

Resealed the diff today using some MOPAR ATF-RTV sealant i have that is meant for when i do the front diff on my jeep but cerbera first.

My mate has a engineering workshop in Leicester and i had to take my bellhousing over to him to drill out the screws that hold the slave cylinder in,they wouldn`t come out even with a impact driver! The other half weren`t to happy when i put the bellhousing in the oven to heat it up,and the new slave cylinder in the freezer to cool it down so it would fit easier!!!Good Old British engineering eh????!!!!
