Under load at lowish revs I'm getting a metallic pinging noise.
When I last had this on a 'normal' car it was pinking caused by the
ignition timing out.
I'm using Shell V-Power so it shouldn't be a low octane issue so in my limited knowledge it could be weak fuel/air mixture or ignition timing out.
Anyone else had this? if so what was the cause and the resulting cure?

They add lots of cost unfortunately. You need am ECU that can handle the signal and then adjust the spark accordingly. You need to spend a LONG time on an engine dyno to do it correctly along with about £50K worth of instrumentation (in cylinder pressure sensors and a software package to process that data). You can rent some of this but the signal processor kit is about £3k a month.
Yes you can strap a sensor to the block and it will work ish, but you'd be asking TVR for a new engine when it went pop.
