I have been extremely lucky in the past 5 years when taking Black Beauty to the Controle Technique (MOT Station) over here but in May The Bs really took me to rown.

Failed on loadsa things, the most annoying of which were conditions of Brake Discs, Pads and Shoes. Now, at first I thought "As !" - I know when my brakes are worn or not. I then checked with AP Racing and they confirmed that my front discs were showing more than twice the recommended level of wear. Doh ! thought I !, perhaps thet do know what they're talking about.

Duly booked Her in for a 12K service and a brake overhawl.

Was completely gutted when my 1200 mile return trip was dogged by SCREEEEEEEETCJING from the offside rear brake.

Got home, took it for a re-test and whaddaya know, failed on Handbrake.

Trawled through PH pages and eventually found this advice, which I followed and rolled out of the test station today with a Pass Certificate in my hands.

Somehow, someday, I'm gonna buy you all a BIG drink.

i had a heart stopping moment after doing my suspension upgrade when i pulled the handbrake up after readjusting it, a loud bang, and thought that i had snapped the cable, luckily i hadn't and was the plastic adjuster slipping on the spring type thread.

But happy days still got a working hand brake

Well done on the pass, and i've learnt alot taking the car apart so far. Its nice to give people your experiences as it really helps people out.

Glad you got your pass in the end! I knew all that time and skin lost fixing my handbrake would pay off one day

At least it's only wear and tear happens to all cars not just TVR's glad its all sorted and back on the road.

I had to do my brakes last week due to cracks in my discs

Had a track evening so did not fancy running on these and it had only been through A MOT just before i got the car and not even covered 1000 very easy miles since Lucky i have now changed out for so nice new ones.





Now these bad boys are fitted at been tested out at knockhill track evening last week seem to do the job pretty well with some new mintex pads all round

How many miles had your Baby done ??

I would be sitting 2 inches higher if I'd seen that I'd been driving on those.

Mileage wise my car has done 54k not sure how many miles it has done with those discs as i only changed to the Cerbera from a Chim last november and i have only covered around 1000 easy miles since owning it.

In that case I feel unbelievably lucky to have coaxed 76K out of mine.

(Now I understand why my brake discs measured 200 Deg less than the other pilots at Spa last year - obviously never use 'em)
