sports exhausts

As the owner of maybe the quietest Cerb ever ( 96db at Castle combe a few weeks back - decatted!) Could you recomend me an exhaust option please. Ideally just list the supplier, what they do and the price then I can crack on and look at all the options available. I will look at both changing the rear boxes as well as the whole system for the right result.

I only use the car for highdays and messing about, however I don't want anything thats effectively too anti-social!

Its a 2001 4.2

Hi Owen,
2 routes - either spend £1k++ on a new system eg Silverstone Performance or £100+ ish 'sleeving' or reducing the boxes - the latter is cheap enough to progressively play around ie make louder if you don't like it after first attempt - what I have just done with these guys who are J18 M4:

Try Dulfords bud,they do a nice system.Back boxes cost me about 260 for the pair if i can remember.Don't know what they sound like yet cos i aint fitted em ,but they do make a nice show piece on the guest bedroom floor. you will find the part listed on their website which i think is under the heading tvrcarparts or similiar.

I have just removed a Dulfords one. Cheap as chips and good value but not a performance enhancer.

I have a stainless back section on mine but going to have a custom fullsystem made up by a trusted company who do alot of Rally cars systems and will cost less than 1k and it will be 316 stainless as well.

You could also look at TVR Car Parts. The standard replacement sports system they supply is what I have fitted to my car which is also decatted. I know my engine is different now but it registers 105db. I also had it fitted when I was using the 4.2 engine (don't know the db then) which sounded loud without being stupidly so. I would have thought either Warren or Brian could give you some pointers.

I have just had a custom set of pipes fitted. Bought them from some kind gent on this forum. I am now running de-cats and sports pipes, CHRIST are they loud. They were a really good fit and exit in the correct position. Had my first comment as i drove by two women, one said " how anti social". proves i didn't waste my money. have got a long journey to stay with TVR friends this weekend, will see if they get on my tits after a couple of hundred miles.

Update.

fitted Barrys Pipes, ( not sure which type they were originally) which he did me a good PH deal on and its transformed the car. Not only does it sound F***ing Immense! it also feels to be "breathing" more efficiently and the power delivery feels smoother and that theres more of it! ( Never a bad thing)

as well as that I stuck some new front pads on it and a TVR plate...MMMMmm cant wait to get back out in it. It's exactly how I want it now.
