Intake hoses, anyone tried straight ones?

Looking at experimenting with my intake....
I have a straight track into my ports at the moment, however if i install the original pods i can elongate the inlet tract.
I spoke to the manufacturer of my ITB's and they said putting an elbow on, (like the standard Cerbera) was a no no.
So has anyone tried a straight intake?

Didn't the Tuscan racers have straight intakes?

Boss - I think was his user name, phil real name? Had those great humps on the bonnet of his 'last ever cerb' I'd guess they were for air boxes on top of the TBs with straight pipes in. Much like the tuscan racers, as James said.

The Boss Cerbera does have straight pipes with a kind of sock filter that sits on top of the straight pipes, as did the Tuscan racers and the F3000 car with an AJP installed. All of which are quick with a capital F so I think it would be a good idea on that basis alone
