ECU Diagnostic Query

Hi there, the problem i am having is that the engine management light is coming on when i push accelerator past half way, last time this happened was after i had a new throttle cable fitted and was told the throttles just needed reset, i have recently removed the o/s butterfly shaft because of a little jamming issue, which is now fixed, so obviously removed the potentiometer and the throttle assembley from the o/s bank. i now have an intermittent missfire but from the n/s bank so i need to connect my laptop to reset the throttles so the engine management light will cease to illuminate and i'm hoping that it will show a fault code for the missfire.

Now, i have located the ECU and there is a 2 pin block and a 3 pinblock coming out from the connector plug that connects to the ECU, can i connect to one of these by buying this cable "https://delta.securesslhost.net/~shenglt/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=287&products_id=235" or do i need to open it up and connect via the serial port inside ???? I'm not looking forward to this :-0

From the software that is on here what is the difference between the old version and the new ?????? is the old version for older cars and if so what year car do you start using the new ???

Craig, you can connect via the 3-pin plug. My 1998 Cerberas ECU works with the new software when the laptop is connected directly to the serial port on the ECU (i don't have the lead with 3 pin plug coming out of the ECU) where as another forum members 2001 Cerbera only seems to work with the old software via the 3 pin plug.

Yes, you can connect via the 3 pin plug - but be aware that the actual pinout arrangement varies from car to car. I supply the cable without the pins pushed into their sockets so that you can experiment to get it working & then finally push the pins into the housing. This is explained in the instructions supplied.

Either version of the software will work fine with any Cerbera ECU. Just use the latest version.
