When I looked at the Cerb for sale over in Hastings last week the one that had the Cat D damage repair and was selling for £12000 it had GT written on the ecu. But I can assure you that it had nothing any different to mine in the engine compartment.
TVR them selves stated that certain early cerb 4.5s had a slightly different ecu's and some special customers cars had different throttles but nothing near a 500bhp output but more like an early Red Rose option.

All the paperwork for my cerbie states it's a GT (original bill of sale, order forms etc etc).
I have so far been unable to prove conclusively whether it is or what the differences are. I didn't pay hugely over inflated prices for it (maybe because the interior is an aquired taste)
There are a few subtle differences between mine and others eg the bonnet is lighter but that could be nothing more than a special request or retro fit item...
In reality my take is that all the paperwork says it's a GT and thats great - but thats not why I bought that particular car, I bought it because it's fab!

Edited to add mine is slightly lower at the front than other cerbs that visit Staffs TVRCC, it sounds (even with cats) nothing like the other cerbs that visit the meetings and it too has GT scrawled on the ECU - though this is very easily done with a marker!

Has it got any where near the 500bhp that most have tried to claim?

Has it b

In terms of performance I would say if I'm putting out 400 to 420 I'd be lucky. It feels slightly faster in the 50 to 100+ than my first Tusc which dyno'd at 380bhp and slightly faster that the 5 or so 4.5's I drove before settling on this - though with a hand built engine that is most likely coincidence.
Also thought I'd mention that I have a limited build certificate from the ministry of transport(I think) for limited production builds that says it's road legal etc. Don't know whether this is common or not, I didn't get one with my griffs or tuscs. I'd be interested to know whether they are standard issue...

Hi Gaz,
No, I paid up because it was everything I wanted in a cerbie, full leather, a 'different' interior, a serious stereo install, imaculate condition and it just felt really well screwed together and has proven to be so thus far...
It wasn't until I got it home and read through the wad of docs I got with it that I turned up the info that said it was a GT...
Cheers
