Brummmie's TVR
Discussion
Paul aka Brummmie was very kind enough to take me out in his TVR at Silverstone during the Trax show on the weekend.
It was the first time i had been in a TVR and it was an experience that i wont forget, they do seem to have character and charm.
I was actually quite excited as it was by far the fastest car that i have been a passenger in, even though i knew that there was going to be a maximum of another 49 cars on the track at the same time, and it didnt worry me that he was sorting out last minute brake problems 5 minutes before the session started.
As soon as we set off i knew i was going to enjoy it, the car is mental. Im sure that he only used the first 3 gears properly and got about 3/4 through 4th, we hit around 150-160 mph in loads of traffic.
I was surprised at how much power and how high the engine revved, for an LS3 stroker the engine just wanted to keep going. The noise from the Kinsler throttle bodies is addictive and even though the brakes don't look huge when he braked it felt like my face was being ripped off.
It was funny overtaking everything, R35 GTR's could catch up on the bends but on the straights they were left behind, even the instructors in the Lotus Exige's liked it, as they were laughing as i looked over when we passed them.
Even when the R888's got a bit hot and we started to loose grip and went very sideways round a couple corners and i was virtually looking out of the passenger window, nothing could keep up.
Overall i enjoyed it, and Paul has a very well put together car, he's also a very very good driver.
The only downside was being quite thin, i did struggle to stay put in the Tuscan seats, i was sliding around a bit, but it was worth it.
I am now tempted to sell the monaro and buy a cerbera and stick a cammed LS1 in.

But it is not a Cerbera any more is it!!
And retires.
Its shame for a new guy to But it is not a Cerbera any more is it!!

TVR wanting to rip out it's engine just to put in something else. I honestly don't understand the reason why this is happening. You might aswell get a cobra kit car etc and stick an LS block in.

Reliability? Are you having a laugh. Just go back a few weeks to see a thread on an LS going bang. As a rule it's the bolt ons and electrics that cause problems. Unless your talking about badly rebuilt engines.Speed

Speed! I'm sorry but spending thousands on a LS to gain 10mph is just
madness.
As for choice and because somebody can: I have no problem at all. The LS ones I have seen are beautifully engineered and a credit to the engineers who have done the work.
My point is: it's a shame that somebody who is new to TVR now thinks it a good idea to pull the TVR engine out before trying a 4.5 etc.
But the OP didn't ask for a debate on ajp Vs LS he stated he loved brummies car & would like one himself, he already has an LS engined car & wants another when funds allow....
Why do so many of you 'hate' on anyone that try's do something different? See this on loads of forums with all sorts of parts, if we were all the same this world of ours would be very dull....
