Engine crane

The time has come for a body lift and chassis refurb for the Cerb. As I also have slightly dodgy synchromesh on 2nd gear I want to rebuild the gearbox at the same time, the engine is coming out.

I have seen mention that you need a long reach engine crane for this. Can anyone who has done this confirm if this is right and if so how far the crane needs to reach to clear the front of the car?

I also have a spare angine crane and also a chain hoist if it would be of use.

Thanks very much indeed for both your most generous offers! I am planning to buy a crane, as once I have done the Cerb, I also have the wife's MG Midget to finish restoring (Mazda 13b rotary engine maybe!) and another project in mind. I really do appreciate the offers though!

Do you need a long reach crane for the Cerbera with the engine set so far back in the bay?

My Engines coming out in the next week or so, ive got access to a couple of engine cranes. But ive never removed a cerb engine before, so it should be fun ?

And my next project is also a MG Midget ( unless i sell it ), which is sat in the garden very much unloved at the moment
