'A' pillar trim and bottom of rear screen

Chaps, the lacquer is lifting quite badly on the bit od 'carbon fibre' trim along the bottom of the rear screen and slightly on the 'A' pillars.
It's flaking off and looking scruffy. Have any of you re-lacquered or painted these?

Any tips on removing the lacquer, it's quite flaky. Also, would you re-lacquer, paint black or paint body colour? My car is Paris Blue if that helps.



Never been a huge fan of the 'carbon fibre' A pillars if the truth is known, but have no real view on the bottom of the rear screen.

All advice, as always, gratefully received.

My Cerbera is also Paris blue but that section was painted due to it being the facelift version. My laqure was also coming off so I rubbed it down with wire wool and re-painted it, I was advised not to try and remove it off the car.

I kind of like the Carbon Fibre. Breaks it all up a bit. Mine are a bit ropey and wouldn't mind getting new ones.

If you use some wet and dry to remove the old lacquer dont go mad as you will start sanding the carbon itself. Get as much as you can off and relacquer it with a rattle can stuff. Mask around the area and build the layers up and will be as good as new.

Kev surely your car is a later S6 Cerb and so whilst it has round front lights it has the Mk2/lightweight (painted) pillars and rear screen bottom piece?

That's right, I only painted the rear screen trim due to the laquer peeling off, no colour changing.

I have picked all the laquer off on mine and they seem to be standing up well, look good in their raw state IMHO as well.

Well the rear screen is lacquerless now, got bored this morning.

Certainly looks better than peeling/flaking lacquer. Still undecided, will live with it for a while. Either body coloured or satin black is favourite for the rear screen so far.

A pillars still lacquered and 'carbon fibre' for the time being.

For the record, I have the later model Cerb, with the painted front trim, but the rear is carbon.
