Sagaris Wing Mirrors
Discussion
I really like the higher wing mirror look (As per the Sagaris) and was wondering where people would recommend getting the extended mirror stem from please? (I'm assuming that the rest of the mirror is the same as the Cerbera)
I've been and checked the usual suspects online but couldn't find the part anywhere.
I suppose I could potentially get somewhere to fabricate the part but would prefer to get one off the shelf.
The inspiration initially came from the Ferrari 288 GTO (one of my favourite all time cars) and I then noticed that the Sagaris and Speed 12 (a little too high though) seem to have stolen the idea.
The picture below shows the mirror stem extension I'm on about quite clearly:

and the Speed 12:

Thanks all.

Spoke to itieJim about this ages ago.
They're done that way on the Sagaris for good reason. Aerodynamically, you want one of two things with mirrors - to fully blend them in and make sure they're barely noticeable or to get them as far away from the body as possible. Where they currently are on a Cerb creates areas of high pressure just by the window. It is a large factor to wind noise in that area (main Cerb windnoise area) and I think it doesnt exactly help the windows seal to have that pressure there. It is something I looked at for ours, but we sold it before I really got started. I tried numerous people/companies but for whatever reason they all came up short, in the end I decided I'd make some myself, but got sidetracked making stuff for my mazda instead...
A worthwhile mod if you can sort it - either new mirrors or the extensions.
I may look back into it again soon, but the T350 doesn't suffer it as much and I have other priorities still... If I do, I'll let you lot know.

What's this wind noise of which you speak? Window up or down on mine all I can hear is what sounds like half the British Army chasing me.
When my cerb is approaching 100 leptons SWMBO gives me a clip round the ear as she now knows the wind noise from the passenger wing mirror is a indication of 100 leptons

The mini ones look good, Jim. Colour coded would look even better imo. Is the mirror curved for blindspot reduction? That would be useful.
I have a cooper s with these wing mirrors and Don't think it is. may be wrong.Edited by FarmyardPants on Wednesday 21st September 16:43
The mirror glasses don't have a curve to them, though I guess that you could probably find glass to suit given all the tat available for Minis!
In terms of the modifications to fit:
The current mirror sits in a recess in the door, this needs to be filled - therefore the door needs repainting. I did it as part of a full respray, so not an issue for me.
The Mini mirror swivels on its base like the original one. If you want to keep this feature then you need to cut a fair sized hole in the door to allow the mirror base to sit inside the door. I chose to remove the mechanism and bolt the two parts of the mirror together, sealing it all with Sikaflex (the spirit of TVR)
You then need to bond three nuts inside the mirror housing to allow them to be bolted on from the inside of the door. This meant that I just needed to make three small holes in the door to attach the mirror.
It sounds like a real fiddle, but tbh it went together quite easily. I looked at a lot of mirrors before settling on the Mini ones. I chose them in the end because the profile of the base is virtually a perfect fit on the door and I just liked the shape - much more suited to the curves of the car than the rather square VW ones I feel.

Sounds like you need a de-cat and sports exhaust my friend
Sport exhaust yes but think the cats are still in there if anything i want to make it standard again as i am driving it more or less daily now and it is a bit much.
Had enough of over loud exhausts with my sleeved chim TBH
Oft i sound old i am only 27 lol

Always love the sound of a sleeved RV8
They do sound awesome hit 5k and the best sound ever. But Neighbors will start to hate me if i keep coming back with it late at night having to run out open the garage then put it in and my drive is mega tight as it is to reverse the cerb up.
So standard will suit me after 3 years of a mega loud chim

itiejim - Thanks for the fitting information above. The repainting of the door puts me off a little. I may wait until I get a full respray sometime in the future. In terms of the modifications to fit:

I've emailed Plasticman for information on the proposed Sagaris mirror stem extensions.
I'm also going to purchase a spare VW Corrado mirror to play with.
I'll report back as soon as I've got any updates.
