Cerbera 4.2 rich on one bank?

Hi all,

I recently bought a 4.2 Cerbera and am working my way through it. One of the issues is it is running rich on the right bank so has nobody any pointers? I have yet to get an ecu cable so if there is anyone going to the Ace Cafe tonight that could show me what I need and anyone that can give me any advice, I would love to chat.

Hi

You really need to get the ECU hooked up to the software to see what's going on. It's likely to be a case of adjusting the balance bar on the throttle linkage and setting the throttle pots correctly. However, it could be lambda probe problem as well (as other things....)

A search on here should find the link to the software, then you just need a laptop and the correct cable - depends on the year of your car but Steve Heath can supply them.

Thanks for the reply. Yes hoping to get an ecu cable today from Racing Green if they have one and will see what that comes up with. Be nice to chaat to someone at the Ace tonight if anyone going. I assumed that the MIL light would be on if an O2 sensor had gone?

Hi Trevor,

My Cerbera had both O2 sensors changed on Monday but rather surprisingly I didn't have the MIL light on. Changing both sensors cured the misfire.

I do suspect the O2 sensor and reading the ecu should tell me, providing I get the right cable and it talks to the laptop.

I don't know whether you have any history for the car, but £7.7k seems like a good price for such a clean '97 4.2 with only 40k.

Understand now. Yes it is cheap and it has bills and MOTs that seem to back up the mileage but not full history. I am trying to get it to run a bit better and have today ordered an ecu cable so I can set the throttle pots up and see if the o2 sensors are ok. This should be with me tomorrow so may have some answers.
