4.2 inlet paint job

Has any one re-painted there 4.2 inlet manifolds? Mine are looking a bit grubby and the fact there painted Black is a bit silly as it is a only helping heat soak.


I am thinking about doing mine Red wrinkle effect like Ferrari cam covers using this stuff.

Any thoughts idea? and any pictures of any one else's Tarted up?

I like a spotless Engine bay so the rest will get the same treatment come service time over the winter.

Hi, I've had my cam and front covers on the ajp done in red crinkle coat and it looks very good, but it was done by a powder coat firm.

I would deffo buy a tin off flee bay and try it if I was you

I had a set of inlets painted sliver on my engine and at the time I removed all the paint from the cam covers and polished them up to a chrome like finish and I liked that, it looked very retro ( but I never took any pics of the finished look )

I did mine a while ago on my old griff, make sure you have the surfaces roughed up a bit to allow the paint to key to the ally, it really enhances the appearance of the engine, as the 4.2 inlets are a really nice shape.

That is stunning i have seen that pic of your engine bay before Clive top marks.

I have bought a few cans of that wrinkle paint so will be giving it a paint in the coming months and will get the rocker cover a powder coat as well.

What are the benefits of the oil catch tanks? that is also stunning.

the catch tank just catches the oil from the vapour that comes from the engine breather, so it still goes back to the airbox, but the air/gases will be a lot cleaner.
