Best Pads

Hi Chaps,

having almost rear ended a car at the traffic lights a few minutes ago, can anyone let me know what the general consensus is for the best replacement pads for a cerebra. The discs seem fine, I think I totalled the pads at Combe!

I bought mine with EBC Redstuff pads. They're great. Plenty of pedal feel, nice and progressive, decent stopping power when required. Really can't fault them.

ive not tried them (because im too tight lol) but i think the best are the carbon lorraine ones that brummie on here sells. i went for the mintex 1144's they feel fine to me for road use. given the state of the pads they replaced thought anything would feel like an improvement.

I run these as well and tried them on the track as well. Pretty good i had a little faid after lots of laps but i think that was due to brake fluid.

I had not changed it since i bought the car and it does look rank.

But i do rate mintex great pads

Carbon Lorraine here too, just fitted rear pads to match the front, no more squeals (at last), will be testing them at Spa on Monday. Did not seem to think they are exspensive either, cheaper than the Ferodo pads fitted at my last service that have been squeeling like little piggies ever since.

I'm on the second set of front ebc red stuff pads for my xjr and the are good, but they eat discs. I put on new discs all round with my first set of red stuff pads. And when I changed the front pads I had to change the discs as well - mind you I did hammer the ste out of them prior to needing a change. So I guess red stuff are ok if you have decent discs?

My cerbera came with Ferodo Racing pads FRP218H and can't fault them, but haven't had much opportunity to decide if they're really any good as I only have the car a sort time. So far I can't complain but I had to fit anti-squeal shims and do find that they aren't great when cold.

I had red stuff and thought they were great, I have now moved to Pagid RS-14 compound and they are better, actually they have transformed the breaking on the car, the control they offer is exeptional, I am able to modulate the brakes just using my toes the feel/bite is so good, they do not squeal either not like the Red Stuff did.

I brought them on the recommendation of the chaps at AP, they said that they would give the best retardation while preserving the disk life, they were not wrong, car stops and face seems to keep going.

Can not recommend them highly enough, but it is early days. A mate of mine who is used to driving my car was so impressed he has now used them in his Lotus.

I would recomend hawk DTC70. The only thing Is I'm not sure if they ate for circuit use only... They are great from cool and amazing when hot. We run them front and back and have never had a problem and ad you all know they get worked hard!

About £350 for the whole lot, did front and backs at the same time, lots more expensive than the RedStuff but what a difference.

Looked at these after your recommendation Mike but the Pagid pads had a better cold frition coeffecient and similar hot so went for the pagid as mine only get really hot on half a dozen track days a year.

Put anti squeal shims on the back pads at the very least other wise they rattle.

The Pagids do not come with this yuou need to buy it separatley.

There's a reason that pagids have been pushed aside by the majority of lotus Elise race grid, Carbone Lorraine are virtually the whole grid...
CL SELL to some of highest profile teams in the country, and they run other stickers, I should know.

Can you PM a rough cost of CL pads. I will be fitting a set of the 322mm one piece discs over the winter.
