Throttle pots and sumps
Discussion
Two question.
1. I changed the oil on my 1997 4.2 Cerbera today and was expecting to find two sump plugs as in the online manual but there was only one to the rear. Is this usual and the manual wrong or were there a mix of sumps? Also the dipstick on my car is at the front of the engine as opposed to where the handbook suggests, in the V towards the rear. I was expecting the engine to take 6 litres of oil but I think it was more in the order of 7 litres.
2. On looking at the throttle pots I see they are both white, shouldn't one be white and the other blue or am I dreaming? If they should be different colours how would two whites work and what is the difference between them?

I think I may have an issue with one pot as when setting it up the manual states 15% as a base and whilst the right bank I can get to read steady at 14.8 or 15.2%, the left one flashes constantly between the two. Is that a sign? Also where can I get the pots at £36, I've seen them mostly at £60.

Got a throttle pot off Ebay and fitted it today. Set it up with the laptop and now running betterthan ever. Each time I fiddle with the car it improves which is very satisfying as often with other cars I have chased around trying to improve with varied success. Happy to say tat the readings on the laptop are as far as I can see, spot on with everything working on the car as it should with the exception of the water tep gauge which reads approximately 10 degrees high. Is there a cure for this or do I live with it?

The temp gauge is known to over read. I'm currently looking at SPA dual oil pressure and water temp gauge. As a job to add to my growing winter list.
Think it will offer more peace of mind fitting it compared to the standard gauge.

I have an spa gauge on mine and it works very well indeed.Think it will offer more peace of mind fitting it compared to the standard gauge.

Highly recommended.

Just a quick point regarding the over read. Think it will offer more peace of mind fitting it compared to the standard gauge.

I had my Temp gauge repaired by a company called Gauges North West Ltd when my capillary snapped.
They took quite a while to fix it, but they did manage to get the calibration spot on, and now my temp gauge reads exactly the same as the ECU where as previously it was 10deg higher (as per most!).
