The previous owner of my 4.5 had the front lights upgraded to the speed 12 spec. The new light clusters includes higher mounted seperate indicators, rendering the original ones redundant.Unfortunately, the original indicators have been removed leaving, what to me, are unsightly holes. Can the lenses of the original indicators be obtained and fitted to fill the holes and if so from which vehicle did they originate? I have noticed that the original front indicators appear to be amber clooured on some modles and white on others. Any ideas?

I think they are of an armoured personnel carrier or something daft like that.

Have a look here

I had mine done recently and they filled the hole with a gauze type screen, the air can still get through but it looks a bit better than just a hole.

Somebody has put a pipe behind theirs and directed towards the discs to help cooling if I remember right.

whatever

chieftain tank rings a bell, though I don't doubt that a proper search would turn up the answer

Thanks, for the response and the link. I have previously spoken with the company that carried out the work and they have sent me a piece of the gauze you refered to for DIY fitment. This was apparently as fitted to early Chimeras. Do you know why they remove the old units instead of leaving them insitue, as apparently the holes do not aid cooling in any way?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the potential for fitting fog lights in the old indicator holes was being considered - which would be nice. I have read nothing further unfortunately.

I'd imagine they remove the old units as they are redundant and look naff left in. I don't think fog lights would look any better.

I have the gauze in mine - though it needs better fixing as it has come adrift on one side. At some point I will be fitting brake cooling ducts though.

Minor point; not sure if all the bodyshops do the same, but on mine there is an inspection cover in the wheelarch to access the rear of the new light cluster. This is a circular plate held in by self tappers, and on mine it is just a piece of steel plate. I has a loose bulb and had occasion to remove this, and found the reverse side was BARE METAL - with rust, naturally. Mmm, not quite what I'd expect.
