....how to get at the door mechanism on the car? When I press the button to open the passenger door, the window drops and it makes the clicking noise, but the door does not pop open. Have to use the red handle to get in!
I'm guessing its a solenoid like for the boot, but how do I get to it??
TIA,
Jo

Hi Jo,
Not sure where the gubbins are, but I've had this problem on my Cerb in the past.
Try pushing the door in when you press the door button on the outside and then let go once it's clicking - that worked on mine (I think the door was pushing out against the mechanism and stopping it coming free).
The garage cured the problem in the end, although I don't remember what they did to it! Hope it helps for now.

hello
to get inside the door there are allen screws under the door and at the side , that will take the whole panel off, good luck

Thanks, but I need to get at the mechanism on the car, not the door, if that makes sense. Had the door panels off more times than I can remember!
Cheers,
Jo

I don't think that will help. It sounds like the button is working but the catch isn't releasing. AIUI the button mechanism is in the door, but the catch solenoid is in the car side of the mechanism?
It's probably just Jo 'Bionic fingers' Williams pushing the button wrong

When the door is open check that it is nothing simple like a loose lock. The three allen bolts in the pillar can get loose and tightening up with a drop of loctite should cure it. Failing that IIRC there is an access panel behind the pillar (a la Griffi/Chimpari)which is velcrod in place. Don't have my Cerbie at the moment so can't confirm.
the panel from the rear seat to the front seat belt top pivot hides the solenoids . It is only held in place with the bolt that mounts the seat belt and the door seal . You can probably get to the solenoids without any tools just by easing it away from the seat base and the door seal . I had the same problem about 3 months ago when both door opening solenoids siezed at exactly the same time ! David
