Will take photos to show progress but so far i have just removed the back boxes and centre section, under body support, disconnected the prop shaft, undone drivers side drive shaft at diff, removed the speedo sensor, cut away all the cable ties at rear end.And have installed a beam which is fixed to chassis via the under body support holes, thus allowing removal of all the rear suspension etc when i need to.This has made access very easy to the rear end and very stable to work on.
Information for beam.
universal H beam 127x76x13 at 1400 long. Cost £48.00p
When i removed the lower strengh panel i simply measured the rear hole positions and transferred this to my beam giving me my two hole fixing.

Well managed a near full day today on the car.I take my hat off to you boys who do your own work cos its hard to say the least.Managed to remove the diff today and what a job.......top bolt on rear hangermadbolt was sooooooo tight, then when it did move it did not undo just turnedfrown.Anyway had to cut nut very carefully due to the proximity of the brake pipes. That free i removed the front hangers, these did undo but again what a job.Lastly i propped the diff on a home made support and turned the diff to remove,by feck was that things heavy with one hand.......but she is out;).Think i will purchase a gearbox/diff cradle for the refit as i dont want to scratch my new paint,or have swollen gonads like i nearly did todaybiggrin

Brilliant how you're so keen on getting your hands dirty. Seems to be the way with so many owners on here; the love and affection shown for these cars is unrivalled anywhere else. Look forward to the pictures spongy.

Don't you find Cerberas make most women look a bit... ordinary?

No rob. A Cerbera is like a jewel, it highlights the lady of your life.

Think I got out of that one rather well?

I can fully open drivers door but am closer as you can see on the passengers side.up front i am about 4 ft from back wall and have about 5 -6ft from garage door,so not that tight but yes i would kill for a big workshop and am looking. If i had a double garage i would lift the body offbiggrin. Not got my heart in it today as my daughter is in hospital and have been worrying about it all dayfrown

Got a nice drive at home and i did think about doing it here as my garage is 14 miles away. But if she is in the dry it will make it possible to do when the weather turns. The secound thing is when its sat outside the house in bits you kinda get down, but when its away you dont see it when you get home late from work and tired.biggrin

Well today i managed to shift the top diff bush, and can i say what a job.removed inner bolts from lower wishbone which allowed me to push driveshaft out and under the area of chassis i need to work on.Held in place by a punch through the bush and then under my beam, which holds the lower wishbone low enough to paint chassis etc(see photo). My intention is to prep and paint all the chassis area around the diff then rebuild this whole area.once this is all back she will go to the garage and have both outriggers replaced, then back to my garage where i will remove the wishbones and renovate these, along with new bushes ets;)

have read Brakedusts report on his diff/bush rebuild and noticed you can buy a tool to do the top bushbanghead, well its done now but what im thinking is how easy will the new one go insmash. My issue will be all the new fettled white paint in this area,so i think i will need a tool to aid its refit.............anyone used such a tool to refit the top bush.
ps the top bush was sent by satan to torment us poor cerb owners, leaving us no skin on our poor hands, and bruises on our bruises

While im on what numpty did the powder coat on our pride and joysrolleyes, that chap wants his arse kicked. It makes me smile cos to say it is thin in places is the understatement of the year.have decided to remove coating from all intersections/welds and come back 3-4 inches to sound metal/coating.at the moment i have sanded nearly all the powder coat off the back endbiggrin

I made a tool to help removal of the old bush. I did offer it to you on another thread.

I used split poly pushes from racing green made installing then easy as.

Think you'll be having to touch up the new paint after reinstalling the diff as its a pig. I did mine using axle stands and lifting the diff in place by hand having it on my chest.

I too plan on painting my chassis this winter more the out riggers as the powder coat has suffered. The rest of the chassis is in good nick so more a patch up job this year
